Buffalo Park
55 acre conservation area
Description
Buffalo Park Conservation Area, located near downtown Tilton, is a 55-acre protected parcel managed by the Tilton Conservation Commission. At one point in time, it was a buffalo farm; today it is a diverse natural environment with a fairly extensive trail system that is available during the day time for walking, running, biking or
snowshoeing. No motorized vehicles are permitted so that residents and visitors can enjoy the trees, brooks, and wetlands. Originally preserved as compensatory mitigation for wetland impacts associated with nearby development, the site is governed by a formal stewardship plan and conservation covenants. Public access is
available via a small parking lot at the end of High Street Extension and a right-of-way at the end of Highland Avenue, with informal trails and natural features supporting passive recreation, ecological preservation.
