Description

Located on E. Main Street (Rt. 3/11) just one minute from Exit 20 on Rt. 93, Salmon Run Conservation Area is along the Winnipesaukee River in Tilton. The former automotive garage site was part of a EPA Brownsfield clean up in 2012 and then transformed into Salmon Run Conservation area through the efforts of the Tilton Conservation Commission, the Town of Tilton, and The Winnipesaukee River Trail Association. Located just upstream of downtown Tilton, Salmon run sits between the two railroad trestles upstream of the historic Tilton Island. The site contains remnants of the dam which powered the Granite Mills, one of the many historic mills along the Winnipesaukee River. Salmon Run has a small parking area and serves as a trail head for the Winnipesaukee River Trail, as well as offering access to the Winnipesaukee River for fishing and recreation.
